Taylors Baptism

Taylor got baptized today April 30th, 2006. We are so proud of her making this decision and we had this entire day prepared for her and her only. Congratulations and Mommy loves you so much!

Family and friends gathered with us today for her baptism service and afterwards we had a small luncheon at her mommaw and pappy's house. Thanks for everyone for being there to support and congratulate her on this special Day.

God Bless you Taylor!

In Memory of.........

In Loving Memory of Carl Gingerich............
My cousins grandfather passed away in December 2005 and was cremated in New Orleans La. Since he is originally from York PA, they just now made a trip home to PA to bury and rest his ashes here today, April 29th 2006. We had a beautiful day to say goodbye as the weather was just perfect. Not a cloud in the sky and the trees were just in full bloom.
Carl was a funny man as I remember as a kid. Going to his campground site in New Bridgeville in the summer time to visit them as they stayed there all summer long. I can remember he was the 1st man I knew that had false teeth and he would always look at you and they would jitter up and down. It kind of scared me as a kid at first but growing up changed that. He was again always remembered as being loud and funny. Our family came up from New Orleans this past week and it was good to see them all. My cousin Gretchen just passed away last March as well, and they made a trip up last spring. We miss everyone and we are so glad they are all safe knowing they live in the New Orleans area from this past years devistation in New Orleans. Cannot wait to see you all again tomorrow!

Take Your Daughter to Work Day

Take your daughter to Work Day, what a fun day! This was the 1st year Taylor didn't go to work with me since she was in the 2nd grade. I am working from home now for a few months taking a breather until she starts Middle School in the fall. She was a little disappointed but I told her she'll have fun at school with the other kids who unfortunately couldn't make it either. Maybe next year (if middle school aged kids do this) she can go again with a new job (fingers crossed) XXXXX. We had fun the other years right kiddo?

Shopping

Taking Taylor shopping tonight for some sandals or shoes and a nice outfit for Sunday. She is getting baptized on Sunday. I never had this done as a infant and she has been asking about it and I feel she is ready to understand and therefore we are planning her baptism on Sunday April 30th. Family & friends will be there, she is all excited.

I just hate taking her shopping, she gets so frustrated and for some reason just isn't interested at age 10 to shop yet. We shall see how it goes tonight, her excitement about Sunday may encourage her to shop shop shop! :-)

Hi Mom!

Hi Mom! My mom says she reads my blog regularly so I wanted to write today and say hi!

I am thinking about you even if I don't mention you in my daily blogs. Your the sweetest mom out there and I do appreciate all you and dad do for me and think about my well being. Everyone always says their mom is the greatest as Taylor tells me that I'M THE GREATEST MOM in the world, but seriously you are. You do so much for us and Taylor that we love you to death!

Hope your reading this shortly so you can say I haven't missed you! By the way, there is 356 days in a year so I'm sure I'll get you in here sometime, laugh*

29 Again?

29 Again? Arent' we all turning 29 again each year on our birthday? Well, I am.......as we know that's not true but I like to think I'm in my 20's all the time. That's okay cause I feel young at heart and love being a mother and living life as it is.

Its just another day to me. We had a good time last night watching our band play and singing Happy Birthday to me at midnight. Steve always makes a big stink each year if we're out celebrating with flowers and an ice cream cake with candles as well. Thanks Scott for delivering the flowers to me with a kiss, and for the guys singing the tunes! We had a blast.

A little song also made my day today when Taylor sang Happy Birthday on the phone to me as she'll be home shortly for a few hours to break open that ice cream cake and we can try it out. Yum Yum! I normally don't make a big deal over my birthday but thought I'd use it as my weblog entry today --- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!! 29 AGAIN!

FDP the Greatest Band in York, PA

This is FDP, the coolest band in York & Lancaster PA. We simply love these guys!
FDP -- Check out their Website.
Eric, Scott, Brian and J
FDP, what does it stand for? Nobody really knows. We are going to watch them play tonight April 21st at a local bar in our area. I cannot wait, my b-day is tomorrow so come midnight it'll be a blast hearing them play some of their favorite songs: My Own Worst Enemy, Kryptonite, Jessie's Girl, Brown Eyed Girl and Crazy Train (although we won't hear that one tonight cause Browney is not here to sing it for me!) We miss you Browney!

Steve and I have been following this band since the year 2004. A friend of ours kept bugging us to come watch them play and we never wanted too until one night they played at the local bar we often go too on weekends and we said at that time "We have no choice." We fell in love and have been addicted since. I guess you could say we are FDP's #1 Fans! I even have a full scrapbook of nothing but photographs of these great guys and fans! Go FDP!

Unexpected Things in Life

Unexpected things in life sometimes catch you by surprise, we all experience it and all must deal with it. Today we buried my Uncle Jim who passed away on April 16th. Although I knew him as a small child after my teenage years, sometimes you drift away from relatives or friends and never realized what you missed until its gone.

Uncle Jim was a very nice person who I can remember going to his house to stay a few times, not many but have spent the nights my brother and I. I can remember always going to his house and someone always getting thrown in to the swimming pool we loved so much to swim in. When we were a kid having a pool was very nice and not many people we knew had one. They lived right here in York like we did but wasn't real close by to visit often. Although I wasn't very close to my Uncle Jim, he was my uncle and I hate to see him go.

My cousin Scott and his wife have become a little closer to our family since he retired from the Navy last year 2005 and moved right here in Hellam. Scott is older than I am but we still see each regularly whether its at a family function or swimming in my parents backyard. As now we have a swimming pool to swim in regularly and I can tell you what, the throwing people in the pool hasn't changed Scott's ways. Seeing family that I haven't seen in a while was nice today but for the wrong reasons, it was good to see everyone.

Again, Uncle Jim wasn't a close uncle to me but the memories are there.

Planting Flowers

Our Tulips came up very vibrant and beautiful this spring.

Our TuLips look beautiful this year, too bad they don't last long.

Planting Flowers, my favorite thing to do for springtime. I love to plant and display flowers knowing in a few months they will be in full bloom and making our backyard colorful.

We plan to go get flowers this afternoon and put mulch in the flower beds to plant them in a few days. Its suppose to rain this weekend, so we better hurry and get 'em done by Friday. We normally put impatients around the back of the house and flower beds, they grow so beautiful in the shaded area all summer long and some years we have seen them to grow almost 11-12" tall, yes! no lie.

What a gorgeous morning sitting out back I decided to take this picture of our pansies we have displaying on our patio table!

Ever Have a Bad Day?

Ever have a bad day? I sure did yesterday, that is why I didn't write my daily entry. I think today will be better.

Why?

Taylor made me laugh this morning, and knowing she is anxious to get back to school after a 4 day weekend, we need a break.

Yesterday was a good day as far as weather was beautiful, lawn got mowed, I took 2 walks and plan to keep that daily routine and flowers are started to bloom. We will leave it at that.

Today I plan to work on scrapbook orders, take a walk, enjoy some time outside (low 70's today), take a trip to Wal-Mart for a few things, and take Taylor to softball practice tonight. We shall see what gets done. :-)

Today is Opening Trout Fishing

Today is opening Trout Fish Season. Exactly 8:30 this morning, the horns blew and every fisherman in Muddy Creek, PA casted their rods............I bet Steve is having a blast. They make it a 4 day weekend, camping/fishing and just hanging out with the men. Better them than me. We had some nasty weather yesterday with thunderstorms and rain all day on and off but they are tough and I'm sure they are ok.

They will return by noontime on Easter day hopefully with some fish. Although I don't eat trout, I'm sure Steve will be bringing something home to pack away in the freezer for later use.

I can just imagine how many fisherman are fighting for the fish this morning!

SiLLy Things

Silly things for todays thoughts............

1. I like the toilet paper to be hanging over not under.
2. I hate being tickled.
3. I am so hungry for pizza.
4. I hate when my hair is freshly washed, it won't do a darn thing.
5. I hate wearing socks/shoes, sandals & flipflops are me!!!!
6. My toe nails get painted only in the spring/summer/fall seasons.
7. I don't like the smell of seafood
8. I think buying toilet paper and other feminine products is a waste of money.
9. I'd rather have my drinks already cold so I don't have to use ice cubes.
10. I like cats, not dogs.
11. And I like crushed ice, not cubed.

and last but not least............

I like to go the beach but not swim in the ocean!

Getting Ready for TROUT FISHING

Here it is, the week of TROUT FISHING opening day and of course Steve and his buddies are preparing for the weekend trip. They are putting up tents today and getting their gear ready to go. They normally spend a 3-4 day weekend at Muddy Creek, one of the largest fishing areas in York County, PA. It gives me a weekend to myself as well and besides football, this weekend is the next biggest thing Steve looks forward to all year round.

Fox Fire House Photos

FoxFire House photos are now here! Check them, I will add a few more photos later today. Looks like they had some fun this weekend amongst working in the garden, cooking and cleaning. Taylor is in all the photos, turquoise shirt on. Junior Troop # 26 from Hellam PA. The lady in charge of Foxfire House said this was a big troop to be attending this weekend stay that only half the girls could sleep in the Foxfire house each night, and the other half had to stay in the local rec hall -- each night they switched.

We Love Smokey

Smokey is the most loveable sweetest cat. He just loves to cuddle and follow me around the house. Some days I wonder if he is a puppy. If I'm on the computer, like now --he's laying next to me, if I'm doing dishes in the kitchen, he's sitting by the back door watching me, and if I'm watching TV in the Living room, he is somewhere laying in there too. He just loves to be snuggling with someone and very rarely is alone. Some days I do find him laying on Taylor's bed sleeping all day and those days I truly believe is not feeling well but everyone tells me I'm paranoid he's fine. He was brought home in the year 2001 for Taylor when we returned from our New Orleans trip in August. Boy! was she surprised. He couldn't even get up the stairs and now he's so big and sometimes a pain, but in the end he just wants to be loved! Smokey we love you!

Opening Day

Opening Day at Baltimore.....Steve went to see the Baltimore Orioles opening day on Monday (yesterday), he helped with the balloon decorations as they do this event each year with the Balloon Crew from Hellam, PA. Friends of ours own this balloon company and put up orange/black balloons throughout the stadium and archways, they are quite talented with balloon design. As you see here their mascot is showing off to Steve taking pictures. What a fun day he has as it takes all day to do this, ending with the Orioles opening ceremony about 2:00 and first pitch at 3:00. And the great thing is the ORIOLES won yesterday! Go Orioles!

ApRiL FooLs

ApriL fooLs....I think this is the 1st year I did not pLay an April FooLs Joke on anyone. That's very depressing but good for them.

April brings many good memories: my birthday, Easter, Springlike weather and Opening Trout Weekend. Sounds like a good month ahead and I'm very excited to get APRIL STARTED.

Taylor's weekend at GS camp was awesome, although very tiring. She said they cooked, cleaned, cooked, cleaned and more cooking & cleaning. They had a great time at camp living like the settlers back in the 1800's or later, and although they did learn it wasn't easy back then, they enjoyed every minute of it. Cannot wait to get the photos back.

Today I'm catching up on eBay scrapbooking orders while Steve is at the BALTIMORE ORIOLES Opening Day in Maryland. He headed off there with some friends who own the Balloon Crew and setup every year for opening day. Orange Balloons galore, an all day event as they packed up and left at 6:30 this morning and won't be back til late tonight. He enjoys it every year.

Good luck to all those baseball teams this year!

And She's Off.........

And she's off.........to Girl Scout CamP that is. After a long day field trip with school (5th graders) went to Philadelphia PA for a field trip, they came home last evening for only about 1 hour and headed off to GS camp for the weekend. The weather is nice, thank goodness so they should have a great weekend. She was so excited, what a busy day for 7 of them as they not only walked all day long in Phila. but then turned around and headed to GS camp last evening.

I plan to do nothing today but work on scrapbooking stuff. Steve has 2 bowling tournaments today and I'll be home alone, again, yeh! no complaints. Today is going to be a relaxing type day in the 60's and springlike, guess I better get out & enjoy!
