Unexpected things in life sometimes catch you by surprise, we all experience it and all must deal with it. Today we buried my Uncle Jim who passed away on April 16th. Although I knew him as a small child after my teenage years, sometimes you drift away from relatives or friends and never realized what you missed until its gone.
Uncle Jim was a very nice person who I can remember going to his house to stay a few times, not many but have spent the nights my brother and I. I can remember always going to his house and someone always getting thrown in to the swimming pool we loved so much to swim in. When we were a kid having a pool was very nice and not many people we knew had one. They lived right here in York like we did but wasn't real close by to visit often. Although I wasn't very close to my Uncle Jim, he was my uncle and I hate to see him go.
My cousin Scott and his wife have become a little closer to our family since he retired from the Navy last year 2005 and moved right here in Hellam. Scott is older than I am but we still see each regularly whether its at a family function or swimming in my parents backyard. As now we have a swimming pool to swim in regularly and I can tell you what, the throwing people in the pool hasn't changed Scott's ways. Seeing family that I haven't seen in a while was nice today but for the wrong reasons, it was good to see everyone.
Again, Uncle Jim wasn't a close uncle to me but the memories are there.
